“A woman of substance has a purpose. She lives with the intention of love and passion.”
I am proud of being born a woman. A woman of substance conducts herself with patience. she conducts her life with integrity and honesty. She possesses virtues that make others around her notice that she isn’t shallow. Besides virtues and other character qualities, she has knowledge. She educates herself about the current issues. She has her own hobbies and interests. She knows that love is built through the hard and good times she does not quit when things get rough. She values her family very highly. I have always cherished motherhood as its the best stage of women. A woman learns many things during motherhood. And that helps her to teach and share her experiences as years go ahead. She is a woman of self-reliance judgment and independence.
Many of us have heroes whom we adore. The impacts they have in our lives is so significant. They have achieved extraordinary feats in their lives and have helped us to live in a better place. Women have an innate sense of service. The influential women have thought bigger and have pushed society forward. I admire women who live up to the expectations in spite of high demands and high pressure.
In a country like India, we have had so many strong women who have written their names in history. I would like to mention a few who have made such impacts on us.
Jhansi Ki Rani, the brave soldier was a woman who rewrote history. She is remembered as a devoted mother and a relentless warrior. She was an epitome of bravery and courage. She died for a cause she believed in. Sarojini Naidu a great woman of India, the Bharata Kokila (Nightingale fo India) was a child prodigy and a great freedom fighter. Indira Gandhi the first woman Prime Minister took charge and changed the path of politics. She redefined the rules. she was a true icon who changed the way the women perceived themselves. Mother Theresa another hero who was called the living saint was a blessing for the homeless in Kolkata. She founded the Missionaries of Charity. She was given the most coveted award the Nobel prize for peace and was one of the greatest humanitarians. She was canonized as a saint in 2016.
Lata Mangeshkar the queen of melody has mesmerized every Indian for decades. She is the indisputable queen of playback singing even at the age of 89. Kiran Bedi was the first woman to join IPS. She was the first woman to lead the male contingent of Delhi police. She was instrumental to introduce prison reforms in India. She was later appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.

She has always encouraged and supported the athletes as a coach. Kalpana Chawla an American Astronaut and engineer was the first Indian woman to go to space. She died in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. When it exploded as it entered the Earth’s atmosphere. Her determination and grit have been an inspiration to many little girls and strong women.
Mary Kom who is called Magnificient Mary is from Manipur. She boxed her way to glory and is a 6-time world boxing champion. She is from the tribal community and is an icon who stands tall as a hero among champions.
Among all these heroes Rani Hong, the lady with a strong voice has made a very great impact on me. She is a brave Malayali, a survivor of child slavery and an activist on Human trafficking. She was a Former Special Advisor of the UN. She is a role model for all rescued children. She has been campaigning against human trafficking, slavery and child labor for 19 years. She is the CEO of the Tronie Foundation. She and her husband started a special awareness through “Rani’s Voice”.
She has come a long way from the slave girl to the CEO of the Tronie foundation in America. Rani was abducted 48 years ago when she was living with her parents in Kochi. At the age of Seven, she was made a slave and was beaten and abused by human traffickers. She faced death and was put up for illegal international adoption. She was trafficked into Canada. After 21 years when she met her mother she realized that she was a victim of human trafficking. From that day she started her fight against Child Trafficking. Trong Hong was her friend from her school days. He too bore scars of a terrifying childhood. He married her and they joined hands together to fight against child trafficking. They live in Olympia in Washington
The Tronie Foundation was started in 2006. And it has created a global awareness among people. It has become famous for its fight against human trafficking, child labor, slavery and for rehabilitating the victims. Through Rani’s voice, she has been campaigning. And has spread special awareness drives in 20 countries including India. Her main motive was to stand up against Human trafficking and to draw attention to their suffering. And to find ways to secure their freedom. She wanted to launch a massive campaign against trafficking and slavery. Her main aim was to make everyone protest and join hands to eradicate child trafficking and slavery. Every year a steady increase in human trafficking is happening.
She influenced the UN to proclaim July 30th as the World Day Against Trafficking in Person. Due to her influence 12 bills were passed by the Washington State Legislature. They launched Freedom Seal in 2013. It’s a new tool to help businesses to fight modern-day slavery. It’s a visual marker of freedom from slavery. It helps consumers identify companies who support organizations that care for human trafficking survivor.
A woman of substance has a purpose. She lives with the intention of love and passion. She is self-reliant influential and ambitious. She plans her goals well. She has her own identity and attains it with her own efforts. She has a vision in life and that gives her a purpose to live in the world. She lives by her morals and values in life. Because it inspires and motivates her to do something significant in the world.
