I am starting off on the eve of Mother’s Day in reminiscence of my mother as I lost her on Mother’s Day. I was very attached to my mother. There are moments in life that will always be remembered because she motivated me inspired me and was my strength. All along she was a powerful woman who added value to my life.
A Mother is the best creation of God on Earth, She is the greatest blessing and the sweetest gift in the life of any human being. Mothers have the greatest influence on us. Even though motherhood is a full-time job and a no pay job, a mother’s work is never done. Each one of us showers her with all our love, care, and warmth. For everyone, their mother is their best friend, best teacher. best mentor, and guide. We find guidance, friendship, discipline and love in them.
My mama and I were greater friends than a daughter and mother. She was a teacher and was loved by all the students she taught.she was a very pious woman. she used to help the needy people but would never talk about it, as she believed that we should do something good with the right hand but never let the left hand know about it. Her good deeds have helped me in my life so far. She used to teach me to make small sacrifices whenever I was in need. She used to say it is not necessary to sit in a place and pray, every little thing we do, be it our work or if we are busy, that could be offered as small acts of prayers to god and they would be received by Him. I do practise that in my life.
I would like to narrate an incident of the 1980’s. I still remember when I was a small girl how my mother struggled to build our house alone. My father was working in a faraway foreign land and she had to manage alone. We were new to Kerala, the language was a barrier for all of us, except my father. My mother had to take the responsibility to build the house. In those days it was all quota system. If we had to get cement and Steel, we had to get a special sanction from the collector. We were living about 20kms away from the collector’s office. She travelled all the way and in spite of her language barriers she went to the collector and got it sanctioned. She came with the materials by lorry, people never saw a lady come in a lorry with building materials. They were surprised to see their teacher in a lorry. She was a brave and a strong person. Her motto was always to do what is right no matter what just move on if you have an ambition, God would do the rest. There are many such small incidents in my life that have always been an example for me and have helped me when I had hurdles in my life. But to tell you the truth I can never compare myself to my mother because she was a very courageous person. She is everything I would want to be in future.
# A few reasons why everyone loves and respects their mother?
Why is Mother’s Day Special?
A Mother loves her kids more than anything else. She could be the truest friend we ever could have. She does her best for her kids. She inspires her kids to follow their dreams and always support them with everything they want to do. She always knows what is best for her kids. She teaches her kids good manners. She always could see the silver lining in any situation and show her kids how to have a positive attitude towards anything they did. A Mother always keeps advising her kids to ‘Treat others like you want to be treated.” she always is very hospitable to people whom they meet no matter what their age bar is. A Mother is a perfect listener and always find time for people who need a shoulder to lean on. Above all, she does a great job of raising her kids.
We get to express our deepest feelings to our mother on Mother’s Day, do you agree with that? It’s true we do it every day because there isn’t a day that our mother isn’t special. She has the strongest influence on us. We must remember her as the person who made us what we are today. She is the person who tried to make every wrong we did, right. A mothers love is the only unconditional love in the whole universe. So I always do feel Mother’s day is indeed a special day for every mother and each one of us should make her feel special on that day.
As we know every coin has two sides, I would like to bring to the notice of the sadder version of a few mothers who are being abused by their children. For instance, recently a video footage of a 90-year-old woman being beaten by her 40-year-old granddaughter in Kannur district had gone viral on social media, prompting police to register a case. It’s disheartening to see such atrocities happening in this era. I hope and wish every child would learn to value their parents especially their mother’s sacrifice in bringing them up and helping them stand on their own feet
