Drishyam2-The Resumption, the sequel of Drishyam starts from where it had stopped. The film Drishyam was a Blockbuster in 2013 and it ended with the hero Georgekutty doing the unimaginable deed of burying the body in the police station. We all left the theater with a picture of a man who would do anything to shield his family from the law. It was remade in several languages -Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Sinhalese, and even Chinese. And all of them did pretty well. When the news that a sequel would be made of Drishyam, was out. Everyone wondered how the story would continue. But Director Jeethu has surprised all of us by unfolding the whole story beautifully.
The story begins after a span of 6 years where Georgekutty’s (Lalettan) lifestyle has improved. He owns a theater, his daughters Anju( Ansiba) & Anu (Esther) have grown up. The people of the little town who were with him years back started talking in whispers of the missing Boy Varun Prabhakar . In spite of the normalcy of life, they lead. The family is still scared of their past. Jeethu has depicted the trauma perfectly which is played by the eldest daughter Anju and Rani (Meena) his wife’s anxiety to know where Georgekutty buried the body.
The story is beautifully unfolded with the entry of Prabhakar(Siddique), Geetha Prabhakar(Asha Sarath), and the IG Thomas Bastin (Murali Gopi). The story takes a twist yet Georgekutty still remains unruffled by all that’s happening. Mohanlal transmits subtle strains of novelty in his character. Georgekutty. It’s surprising to see this cable Tv operator turn into a film producer. He spends money to get the script done. The scriptwriter Vinaychandran(Saikumar) also plays his part well. Other supporting characters like C. I Mathew (Ganesh Kumar), Sulaiman(Narayan Nair) Rajan (Dinesh Prabhakar)make significant contributions to the plot. Each character in the movie has an important role which is beautifully depicted by Jeethu.
Jeethu has perfectly sailed through the film without a hitch and the whole cast has supported him. In the end when the whole game gets solved we the audience get to see how Jeethu chose each of his characters to make their moves along with the plot. The movie is well-crafted and it was worth waiting for it to be released. Jeethu has proved his outstanding caliber.
It’s a must-watch movie.
