Movie Title: SHERSHAAH
Director : Vishnu Varadhan
Productions :Dharma Productions
Kaash Entertainment Films
Writer: Sandeep Srivastava
Cast: Siddharth Malhotra , Kiara Advani
The story takes us through the real life journey of Captain Vikram Batra the Veer Puttar of our Nation. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously. The film depicts the story beautifully from his first posting to his death in the Kargil War.
The movie begins with the final scene of the Kargil war. We are taken through a flash back as Vishal Batra talks on Vikram Batra’s life on a live talk show. The story depicts the encounters with the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. We see the love, our Fauji hero had for the nation. From his childhood days till his last breath and on the other side we see his love for Dimple Cheema.
Siddharth as (Vikram & Vishal) has done a wonderful job . He gave us the feel of the character himself, the excitement when he vanquished the enemy, when he encouraged his subaidar in planning for the future of his new born baby. Siddharth blended well with his character. His lady-love Dimple Cheema (Kaira Advani) too has played her role naturally.
The biopic has been beautifully portrayed. The extraordinary courage of Captain Vikram Batra, his love and dedication for the nation do bring tears to ones eyes. The writer has stuck to the documented details and the story was not given the over hype of a regular action movie. I feel that has given the movie a more down to earth feel to the character of Captain Vikram Batra.
Vishnu Varadhan, the director has done a great job by sticking on to the real story. He has depicted the plot beautifully by blending the hero’s personal and fauji life. When his body comes wrapped in the Tiranga, the recap of these famous words of Captain Vikram brings tears to everyones eyes. “Either I will come back after hoisting the Tiranga or I will come back wrapped in it, but I will be back for sure.”
Posthumously, Captain Vikram Batra was awarded the highest wartime gallantry award, Param Vir Chakra for his incredible role in the Kargil War.
Coming to the songs, all the tracks in the movie are really soothing. Especially, the song Mann Bharryya 2.0 is a very emotional one. The lyrics are so touching . It reminds us of all the unsung heroes who have lost their lives for the nation.
This movie has proven that even an ordinary lay man can be dedicated to the core. The movie Shershaah and Captain Batra’s dedication will surely be an inspiration for the young generation to join the army.
The whole team Shiv Panditt, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Himanshu Ashok and the rest have done portrayed their roles perfectly and supported the director well.
On the whole, it is definitely a must watch movie. However, I would have loved to see Shershaah on the big Screen.
