# The Father’s Day Spirit

One of the greatest gifts I ever received from God is my Dad. The role of a father is very important in shaping up the destiny of a child. Father is greater than a Guru or God. One can have all the material and spiritual blessings in the world. But to have the best of relationship with their father is the biggest blessing one can have.

  As Father’s Day is around the corner and its celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year. This week I would like to pen the same.

# Do you feel we should celebrate Father’s Day?

        For me it is extremely important, by celebrating it we are acknowledging the contributions of fathers to their families and to the society. We should teach our children to express their love and respect their fathers. The sentiment goes a long way in strengthening the father-child relationship And so building up the emotional development of the child. Usually mothers are sole nurturers of their  children. The role of a father is often related to a  secondary status as compared to another. But we all know that father is as important for a child as the mother is. If mothers are heroes for child rearing. The significance of a father in the development and emotional well-being of a child is no less. Children depend on their father for their spiritual, emotional, physical, financial and social well being. For daughters, their father is the ideal man in the world and also the first man they adore.  while for sons father is an idol and the strongest man they aspire to emulate. Fathers play the role more of a provider and guide for children. Now the scenario has changed nuclear families of today. As both husband and wives of the present day are working The fathers get involved in child rearing jobs as the mothers are. Most of the fathers do not shy away from changing the diapers or taking the difficult task of putting the baby to sleep. This cultural change is helping in strengthening the father-child relationship and so building emotional development of the child and building stronger family bonds.

        A father-daughter relationship is the most beautiful bond in this world. The bond their share is very unique and special. A daughter will outgrow her father’s lap, but never his heart. A father knows only to give and he will always be her first hero and a King all her life. A father always sets an example for his daughter. She looks up to him and builds up expectations about how her Prince Charming would be. We daughters know that our father’s guiding hand will always be there no matter what. They are ready to do anything for their daughter to see a smile always on her face. They always feel proud to see the smallest achievement in their daughter’s lives. When it comes to boys, he gets very protective of his girls. He gives constant security and support in life. The hardest task for a father is to marry off his daughter.

      My dad too has a special bond with me. I always am in awe to see my father’s strength, his integrity and the painful endurance he deals with life daily. He is my hero and role model. I am grateful to God for having blessed me with such a loving father. My father always has a special quality in him, he adapts himself in all age groups of people. He is a person who values every relationship he made and till date, he maintains that. Another admiring quality in him is his hospitality and the love and care he shows to every person he makes friends with. He always does his best for us and is always a pillar of strength for us. I have tried to imbibe a few qualities from both my parents but I know I can never be like them.

Fathers play a vital role in molding the emotional well being of their kids.. They are disciplinarians and good caretakers of their children. Fathers have a great influence on both his son and daughter. We daughters look out for our father’s characteristics in men because the men who have such characteristics in them could handle and understand us better.. Boys on other hand make their fathers their role models and imitate them. They try to follow their father’s ways in their lives and become more or less like them, that’s the law of nature.

   I personally feel that everyone must express their gratitude to their fathers on Father’s Day. Its another way of saying thank you and making them feel happy. Every father looks forward to seeing their kids make them proud.
