The year 2020 will always be remembered by millions all over the world for the outbreak of the pandemic. Fear has already been created in everyone’s lives as the pandemic has taken almost 4lakh lives. Our film Fraternity too has been bearing the brunt with the sudden loss of Irrfan Khan & Rishi Kapoor. We have lost good actors causing a void in the Film Industry. They have imprinted so many good characters in our minds. I had been wanting to pay tribute to them.
That’s when the shocking news was broken. The sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput came in as a shock to everyone. We haven’t yet come out of the loss of Irrfan and Rishiji when we lose yet another promising actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He was too young and had a promising future ahead of him. Destiny does play a part in everyone’s lives and God had his own plans. The media both print and visual have been talking about his death. It’s sad that he went too soon.
Sushant was born in Patna and was the youngest of five children. He was bright in academics and was a National Olympiad in Physics. He scored the seventh rank in AIEEE and joined for mechanical engineering. But dropped out of the course in his third year to pursue acting professionally. His passion for acting and dancing was so much that he joined the Shamak Davar’s academy. He later joined Nadira Babbar’s Ekjute theater group. He was noticed by Balaji Telefilms while acting in one of their plays. His first appearance on Television was when he starred in the famous Nestle Munch Ad.
He started his career on Television. In 2008, he got his first role in TV Hindi Serial -Kis Desh Mein hai Meera Dil under Balaji Telefilms. He gained popularity in Zee TV serial Pavitra Rishta and won the Best Actor Indian Television Academy Award in 2009. He is still remembered for his performance in Pavitra Rishta. In 2013 he made his debut in Kai Po Che which was adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s novel “the 3 biggest mistakes in my life”. MS Dhoni the untold story a biopic on the Indian Cricket Captain gained his stardom and success. He became popular and was known to everyone in every household.

*Kai Po Che(2013) directed by Abhishek Kapoor was a story on three best friends Ishaan, Omi, and Govind who were young and trying to make a mark in the early 2000s. They plan to start a sports shop and a sports academy to produce new cricket stars. The picture depicts the passion, friendship, and destiny that changes everything forever. Among the three Sushant stood out his screen presence was felt and a star was born. The film got six nominations at the Filmfare awards, Sushant too was nominated for the Best Male Debut. The movie won two Filmfare Awards for the Best Screenplay and Best Background Score. He won the Best Debut Male Screen Award for “Kai Po Che.”
*PK(2014) a Rajkumar Hirani’s a satirical comedy film. It is developed on an alien who lands on earth and loses his device that is used to communicate with his spaceship. In his quest to retrieve the remote the innocent PK. questions the religious superstitions and dogmas. Although his role was a minor one, Sarfaraz gained hearts and he got to work with Aamir and Anushka. It emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film.
*Detective Byomkesh Bakshy(2015) was Dibakar Banerjee’s mystery thriller. The film is set in Calcutta during the second world war. Byomkesh who is fresh out of college gets a case of a missing man called Banerjee. The story unveils as the investigation begins. He proved he could carry a movie on his shoulders. Sushant received critical acclaim for his role as the detective.
*MS Dhoni the untold story(2016) a Neeraj Pandey film was a biopic on Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It was depicted on Dhoni’s journey from the ticket collector in the railways to the World cup winning captain of the Indian cricket team. The film was a great commercial success and became one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films in 2016. He was praised for portraying dhoni with immense dignity and grace. He even mastered Dhoni’s helicopter shot. He was so dedicated to the characters he played. It was his most successful movie. The film earned him the first nomination for the Filmfare award for the Best Actor. He received the Best Actor (Critics) Screen Award and Best Actor Indian Film festival of Melbourne Award.
* Kedarnath(2018) a film by Abhishek Kapoor is based on a Hindu -Muslim love story. It’s about a Muslim boy who is a porter and a Hindu brahmin girl. their love is put to test amid nature’s wrath. It depicts communal harmony.
*Chhichore(2019) a Nitesh Tiwari’s film is set in a residential college. Anni and Maya’s son attempts to commit suicide after failing to do well in his exams. Anni the protagonist in the film tries to tell son how he and his friends turned winners from losers. The message that the movie, gives is that suicide is not the solution to the problems one has. He says that one must always try to give your best shot. The movie was a box-office hit.
Sushant was a hardworking, brilliant, actor and a good dancer. He was multi-talented and had inspired millions with his successful career graph. He was full of energy and enthusiasm. He had a passion to do good work and did justice to his roles. Life is such a big irony because in his last film he had spoken that one shouldn’t end their life even if they face the worst situations in life. It’s sad that he gave up, he was too young to go. He will be remembered for the characters he portrayed. May His Soul Rest in Peace.
